I would not call it evolution, they just introduced egalitarianism and implemented egalitarian game mechanics

This brings back some old memories which I was very nostalgic for as I've been playing PC games since my dad bought my brother and I an Apple 2 GS "Wozniak" edition back in 1986. I can remember Wolf3D, Sea Dragon, a game called "Destroyer", the OG Doom franchise which in my opinion is still better then the more recent iterations of that franchise and of course the first Quake game.
