This is somewhat reminiscent of the arguments that were once made on behalf of minorities who were sitting for standardized college admission exams as well as graduate tests such as the GRE, MCAT, LSAT, etc. The argument was that they had been denied a proper and conventional upbringing which would have incidentally and vicariously exposed them to the sort of cultural nuances that were then reflected in the substantive questions of each constituent test thereby predisposing them to failure or a diminished chance of success for lack of contextual and inferential understanding or knowledge. If you can make that argument for minorities vis-à-vis standard tests then it seems to me that this is a mere extension of that principle as it would necessarily follow that cognitive capacity correlates someway and somehow and meaningfully with general emotional aptitude and psychological wellbeing. If you assert otherwise, then you have to reconcile instances where someone has literally been deprived of any human contact or otherwise shown love and affection and who thereby suffers a concomitant diminution in functionality across the sorts of domains that align with IQ metrics.
