Evidently he lives in Austin TX now and works as a consultant for the NSA. But as to your question, no and I wouldn't even know how to begin to access any dark web portals/places.

Ive dabbled with Tor a couple times but not really

Brave makes Tor so easy to use. A simple Alt+Shift+N, I use it for most things. Otherwise I haven't really been on many .onion sites other than the hidden wiki and a few forums.
