He could have been dining in the same restaurant as me or I could have passed by his house and not even realized I was in close proximity to a Mujahideen warrior.

I might have passed by the future site of where this Holy Jihad took place as I spent time in downtown area and not even realized it. Of course I dont remember the street names or exact locations but I have a feeling I probably passed by the site where this Holy Jihad was to have taken place so many years later.
