I was on ebay selling some used stuff. I noticed avg prices for the used items I wanted to sell, and I was intentioned to put lower price. What I noticed is stuff is extremely expensive on avg, people ask for used stuff 5% less than new.

I always asked myself what is the point buying used stuff... when you can add a small % and buy it new. One time a friend of mine sold an iphone 6 at 50 bucks less compared to new. You would expect the person who buys it is a rich normie or midclass. Instead who came to get the iphone was a construction worker who was about to spend more than half his salary on an used item, and if he added 50 bucks more he could have gotten it new.

I seen the same issues with wristwatches. The thing is, if you ask any jewelry for a discount they do it on the spot, minimun will be a drop from 5-15%. Patek for instance prohibits this behavior because some jewelry stores were doing more than 35% discount. Rolex can be had for 40-50% discount. So when you buy a wristwatch you going to get a discount lets say 25%. I pay watchbands 15 bucks whil they should cost 110 on the official listing. If you are dishonest you could sell these items "used" for a higher price you payed them. What makes me curious is why people pay used things at all? Do they not know they could have them new at discount? Are they stupid or is there a psychological mechanism at play?

Because, I just earned money buying wristwatches and selling them, I didnt lose money. Other people instead lost money and became poorer. But I got richer.

While I was getting richer, I was observing these other people around me, asking constantly what is inside their head, do they not notice reality around them? Should I tell them? Is this a "dirty secret" I am supposed to keep for myself and people in the know?

When you buy used items, you risk wear and tear, no full warranty, and you ignore the item's history. Is it worth it? In my opinion, it's worth it if the item you're buying is 50% off new. But that would be minimum, I would spend less than that. When I bought CNC used I spent much much less than that. I would have never bought it if there was a new version at similar price.

This situation reminds me of stuff that happens with women. Normies accept to have sex with hags that seen 2-300 dicks, and these hags cost more than a legit young woman with much less mileage. Sometimes hags cost more than new stacies. Some stacies cost 400 bucks on amsterdam and look better than gisele bundchen. Why some people have sex for free with gisele bundchen and others overpay her when shes old? Why some people get money and other people stay poor? I dont know.

I just made money with my cope of horology, seen the rest around me getting poorer. Some people get rich some people get poor. And Im wondering, if i taugh normies my secrets would they get rich too like me? I did try to tell them but they didnt seem to listen, they keep believing buying used stuff for prices as high as new is a good idea.
