I was in HS and it was told to us that philosophy makes us superhuman, and studying latin makes us upper tier able to think better than the plebs and our greek education gives us superior standing in society.
Is it really true? I didnt find it to be true at all.
But I found a ton of people believe it to be true, especially women. I didnt believe it. Especially because I seen the teacher for the history of philosophy course repeating word by word advertisement from apple. One day he came into the classroom with his new iphone. And since I know what is the monthly salary of teachers I already knew he must have got it used, or pays monthly quotas or got it sacrificing half his salary or more.
And he was convinced apple is "superior". He also repeated the words from advertisement "if you dont have an apple, you dont have an apple". The same professor also purchased supplements from the local gym instructor. Seemed to me he was completely unable to think critically.
Instead when I was 15 I was already reading pubmed, and I was loudly contesting the claims of the supplements sellers because maybe I have read a placebo study or something. And I didnt believe anything from apple. But I didnt have any title in philosophy and in the future I didnt go study it in university.
I would love to see if this HS professor of mine got a clotshot or not. Luckily I didnt have to suffer his normie existence after got out of HS, but out of curiosity I would want to see whats up with his convid beliefs. All I can say is I didnt believe any of the propaganda, lets see how he compares to my critical reasoning lets see if his study of philosophy made him any better than I am.
As for latin and greek do they make you smarter? Well, yeah maybe. If you study a language, any language, your mind expands. Its normal. You may also experience a vision boost. Because your brain will learn new words and your eyes will see new colors or see "more" for some reason. So its not a feature of latin specifically. Maybe Greek does teaches "how to think" and is no coincidence was able to generate such important philosophy but let me assure you it has no effect on a normie mind.
Is it true philosophy teaches you how to think?

I think give knowledge to a normie you did a disservice. People who are normies who have knowledge are dangerous to themselves and others. Its best to be an ignorant grug vastly preferable. To be someone who has knowledge but is arrogant and believes himself to have reached the peak of truth is actually worse than having zero knowledge.Pour_Lui wrote: 27 Jan 2026, 03:47 I think it can improve if you are already smart in the first place, it won't do any good if you are neurotypical.
I really do think in the history of memes that one with grug vs normie knowledge was one of the best. Its a real meme. Giving too much knowledge to normies is a damage dealt against civilization. Because normies make knowledge inflexible and they do not even improve it. Normies should study just what they need for a specific job like aldous huxley said. I know it sounds dystopian but to me is just an observation of reality. Normies cant deal with knowledge.
Nrmies want predictability and they want to knowitall. The attitude of "knowing it all" is harmful. I noticed it especially comparing old gen scientists to newer ones. Scientists aged 60-70 had the myth of experimenting, their university titles were also harder to obtain without privileged DEI and there was no standardized 3 + 2 university in their days. So these old people would be prepared to demonstrate to you their claims. They would go to you, do a claim, then they demonstrate it. this is something no new scientist will do. Nobody experiments any longer they just claim something and expect you to believe it.
Also the normie attitudes treat skepticism as "you are evil" or "you are conspiracy theorists". This is offensive but I seen it. My mother would have never done it. If she had a curious student she would have demonstrated it all in front of him or her. Newer normies who have been given too much unnecessary knowledge are harming themselves and others. And normies end up less prepared to tackle work environment, less skilled and they dont retain information as good as us. So giving them too much to study was a bad idea. It would be better to teach them small chunks of useful stuff.
