In my country a lot of post fascist thinkers became internationally famous. Umberto Eco in particular, it seems his cultural influence is spread across the whole globe and especially in america for some reason.

I have talked online with a ton of communists. And what seems to me is they all quote the "official definition of fascism" and what is taught to them is umberto eco.

Here, for context the definition he produced, its more like a list of "traits" of fascism: cult of tradition, rejection of modernity, action over though, fear of difference, appeal to middle class, obsession with conspiracy, cult of heroism and death, machismo and control of sex, populism and anti intellectualism and so on.

Basically umberto lists a bunch of traits and then he says if we find them used by someone, only one of these traits is enough to label him fascist. It was also in his days where it was popular anti-fascist psychology for instance adorno I think was the most popular anti fascist pseudo-psychologist. He also produced a list of traits of the fascist: Authoritarian, projection tendencies, oriented towards power, concerned over sexuality, superstitious, conventional and rigid, anti intellectual, intolerant so on.

The psychological definitions got successfully debunked by doctors, simply bcause they were shamefully inaccurate. But the umberto eco definition instead still is in place for some reason, especially inside academia according to what I can understand. Every single communist online I spoke to uses it for example.

The issue I have with umberto definition is that is not even true. For instance, fascism does not do a cult of tradition. if you read giulio ebola hes the closes to a "cult of tradition" you can get because he has this idea tradition is "traditional-ism" so he twisted it into an ideology. Thats the only one example of a fascist-adjacent that had a cult of tradition. The rejection of modernity is also fake, fascism was developing a parallel vision of modernity especially focusing on the idea of velocity and so on. Its not they rejected modernity is more like they wanted plan B make a second type of modernity. Action over thought is honestly super common in any politically oriented group especially in academia. People in BLM are not encouraged to study communism critically for instance nobody presented to them a counter argument, they are mostly encouraged to participate in looting and burning and in any street you rarely find someone who has opened a book. Its true for every single movement. Fascism was spreading doctrinal booklets with "proper behavior of a fascist", while communism instead spreads small leaflets with lists of dumbed down ideas or "values we stand for", and thats all a normie is going to know about.

To say "dumbing down stuff is fascist" is ridiculous, its the goal of propaganda, advertisement and storytelling and poetry and so on. Also it can be said mathematics is all about dumbing down super complex ideas into e=mc^2.

Populism is not a trait exclusive to fascism either. For instance all the recent populist movements in EU and america were post-ideological. Media kept calling them "fascist" or "right wing" but there was no basis to do so, only the "umberto eco definition".

Anti intellectualism is something very common. Its not related to fascism. In reality fascism was hyper intellectual, it was comprised of mostly intellectual people who get into philosophy and intellectualize social life and decide to pursue ideas regardless of what is real, possible or "makes sense", not for a coincidence it was born in a country where the social class that was dominating had a strong education focused on humanities. And mussolini himsef was a journalist. This isnt a joke, he was a journalist elite and he wrote for "avanti".

Conspiracy theories are rejected by fascists. Even contemporary fascists reject conspiracy ideations. For example, people at TRS basically believe mainstream media about every single thing. They say "yes arabs did 911" "yes covid is real go get the vaccine" and "yes islam is the problem" or "yes mainstream media is right, lets not focus on conspiracies"

Fascism of the past was the same. All conspiracy cast aside, all you had to know was the university truth, repeat your teacher so called "truth" and for law anyone praising fascism was given minimum grades in school even if he was illiterate. Similar to what happens today with these SJWs who repeat state approved truth in univerrsity of sociology.

Other than this situation, I can also observe the umberto eco definition describes everything and nothing. I noticed it suffices only 1 of the items listed is fulfilled and people will say its enough to match the definition. This definition will be used to describe pretty much anything. For instance also trump was labeled "a fascist". And this attitude of labeling everyone a fascist led to a situation where young students are all prepared to fight imaginary nonexistent fascism and cannot handle non-fascist authoritarians or other menaces. Plus, since the definition is wrong (umberto eco definition) they cannot see fascism when is under their eyes or when they are doing it.

For a proper real definition of fascism I recommend reading gentile or mussolini, that is better.

In any case I wanted to say that these post-fascist thinkers to me always seemed frauds. They appeared "out of nowhere" and their only merit was their "anti fascism". Almost none of them has real merits. It was a situation where every cockroach was able to acquire a social status (even international) simply by posturing antifascism invented attitudes. Thats my opinion of these "anti fascist" thinkers, they are mental midgets who got promoted and artificially boosted, but they are worse than the previous ones by a lot.

Fascism was a real, concrete intellectual movement based on protofascist and futurist authors. Calling anything which has some characteristics of fascist is laziness and lack of historical knowledge, those university left wing people act no different than right wingers who call everything communist.
