I think the success of dugin is easy to explain

Its because in the west they removed geography from public school teaching. As smple as that.
My mom was a teacher in the 80s and she told me she saw horror stories going on. Sicne they removed geography, she saw students praised as "expert" on geography becuase they were reciting what previously would have been considered info suitable for 12 years old kids and since no other teacher had any basic preparation in geography they were clapping their hands.
Basically the idea is when you know nothing of a topic, you can be introduced to it and scammed, manipulated, treated like a fool.
Think psychology for exmaple. This is a topic very few have had an intro to. An average normie will usually tackle psychology with ideological alignments. They will one day hear someone mentioning jung. Maybe they will hear about freud.
A normie will go and read all about jung. Or if he was introduced to freud he will go and read all freud books. He didnt have any intro to psychology he will learn it thru jung or thru freud. Or if a normie listened to jordan peterson, he will get into it and read all about jordan peterson. This is a terrible introduction to a field, a science, a topic, a context. Its bad.
Because normies get pre digested opinions and they get an ideology, a cult of personality, partial opinions that they will fatigue greatly to remove when they mature or get older. Its like learning to math in sociology school you will learn its all about plotting diagrams. Or if you never learned math and go to economics you will learn is all about input on a computer.
Basically, its very dangerous to introduce a normie to a topic thru a propagandist who wants them to take a specific stance. The propagandist is hard to handle for someone who has little experience of a topic. Which is why people like dugin acquired the praise and influence they have today.
