When I had been a student, I absolutely abominated group work both for the coercive social dynamic which it necessarily entailed as well as for the fact that the grade that people received in no way correlated in a fair and rational manner to the measure of effort which each individual exerted in furtherance of the objectives.

I would have such dread when the teachers would say "group up". I'd almost always end up alone, and the teacher would force me into a group of people who didn't like me.
