In HS we had a curious case, our history teacher was a very wiseman.

He told to dumb students to not study, and told the smart ones to prepare for the next lesson. He picked people for intellect, and told the dumb ones to copy the summaries and learn from the smart.

To a student he told to never read books and he said books are like bombs and they explode.

Obviously people laughed at him. But overall he was right, and this wisdom was also understood in the past by priestly class, and I gather also is a popular chinese saying. I dont recall exactly the popular saying, it goes like this: if you educate a dumbass, you harm him and humanity. Instead an uneducated smart person is still capable of moral actions even if he has less knowledge.

Overall, this professor we had integrated this ancient wisdom to a very deep level and he discriminated students based on intellect. If someone demonstrated to be dumb, he would counsel him with the intent of improving him, but the professor was also harsh and realistic. He told students to just study the dumbed down history and never tackle research if they are stupid.

I realized later he was right. If you are stupid, you have to simply memorize info, and try to achieve what you can achieve realistically. You memorize a set of info, you try to see what your society offers you as incentive and you try to do the best you can with what you have. If your society rewards you if you memorize a set of info you do that and your life is very well optimized and you become a good citizen and you achieve respect and integration.

Do never overestimate your intellectual capabilities. Its an adivce I also follow. For instance I dont go around talkin of what I dont know, I have a clear idea of what are my limits. I dont pretend I know the economy I let smarter people do that. I dont pretend to know nuclear energy, I have a painful awareness that I am limited and others are much higherIQ than I am, let them do the search and argument. I find this an optimal way to live, despite I do love to challenge myself and see whats my upper limit.

My HS teacher told dumb students to quit reading. Stop reading, books arent meant for them. Some were quoting nietzsche, or jung, and obviously they werent cut for tackling these authors. So my teacher noticed them, told them to never open a book ever again unless is school info. School info is pre-digested packed knowledge suited for lesser minds. And lesser minds should never go past that type of info. So if you catch someone quoting nietzsche which is very popular in the youth, tell him to quit his attitude and go back repeat standardized information. Its the best course of action to know your limitations.
