In my neighborhood there is an abandoned cemetery near my house from Colonial Times and the Civil War era. The names on the tombstones are mostly worn out from centuries of decay due to neglect, exposure to the elements etc. However there is one tombstone from the Civil War era that appears to be intact compared the other grave markers in the cemetery.
The individuals buried here are two babies who appear to share the same tombstone.
The inscription -
"Mike died 1863 aged two years
Janice died 1859 aged four months
Children of mark and edna westerbrook"
I have been seeing this grave site for as long as I have been living in my neighborhood. When I was young I would often drive by this particular cemetery with family and read the names of this tombstone. When I got older and could leave the house by myself I would go on long walks and would often pass by this cemetery and read the names of Mark and Janice up close and would stay there for a few minutes just staring at the the tombstone and then continue walking. This exercise routine of mine started around twelve years ago and while I don't go on such long walks anymore when I do pass the cemetery I can't resist the urge to visit my friends Mark and Janice who were on this earth briefly long before I was born. centuries ago.
The final resting place of two dead babies I have been seeing in real life for so many years
