Patreon is a scam

Patreon is not real patronage. You "support" upfront, have no ownership, the artist is unaccountable, you just fund him. How is this called ? Answer = slavery. It should be called "slaveon" because you are merely a slave.

You are not granted an output, you are not granted profit sharing, you have no investor control over the creative process. You cannot tell an artist "go back to work or I dont feed you". Because other 100 idiots will pay him anyway even if you try to do it. You cannot coordinate a boycott because the stupid slaves on the internet will somehow shame you if you do it. These dysfunctional slaves are the reason you cannot even unionize with other patrons.

The problem of patron is that its some sort of neuralink where if you press a button you get rewarded with pleasure. Artists are addicted to validation on the internet, they are hooked on pleasure and dopamine rewards of their parasocial bro paypigs. They dont have to necessarily be exploiters it just happens. If you could press a button and feel the equivalent of 5000 shots of heroin and 40000 orgasms you would push it constantly. This is patreon in a nutshell, a pleasure driven platform that rewards people for farming parasocial paypigs.

Patreon gives money to the artist for doing basically nothing. This encourages them to point at tactics that get them more money rather than doing work. Its all based on parasocial loyalty and validation rituals on the internet. And I called it "slavery" but it is probably not it, is some sort of economic dependency of "pseudo gift" economy a labor exchange that is merely symbolic and takes place on the internet, no actual goods have to be exchanged its merely commerce of parasocial relationshits. This creates a pathology, everyone gets "exploited", the artist is exploited by the paypigs, the paypigs are exploited by him, in a mutual intermittent reinforcement of a toxic relationshit. Its all about exploiting human psychology and social dynamics, creating "investments" that are all built to farm money and seek rent.

The end result is a degradation of talent of people involved, because the artists will quit their jobs to pursue patreons, writers will not refine their works because they have no critics they only have parasocial bros who delude them. Musicians will gain no "freedom" they will just gain idiots who validate their delusions and lower their quality. Artists will write diaries on the internet instead of drawing and improving, because they are surrounded by hugbox idiots on the internet who give them money for nothing. These artists who quit their jobs lose their social value, lose a valuable job to pursue nonexistent parasocial retarded relationshits online. Its very dangerous.

This creates a situation that is mutual exploitative and makes you a slave. Everyone is a slave nobody is free.
