Often times motive for these types of mass shooting events is as inscrutable as the psychopathology of the perpetrators mind is impervious to psychoanalysis. Many such shooters failed to articulate any semblance of a rational or even coherent statement of purpose and others left no evidence from which inferences could be made.

As to this particular individual, his extremely poor choice of venue would seem to betray near mental retardation level intellect as airports and particularly ATL which I have flown through once before, are heavily fortified with armed officers stationed at regular intervals in all areas accessible to the general public. It would be as tactically feasible as attempting to assault a police precinct which is to say that it is ill conceived and doomed to fail.
