Because people who can't write are jealous of those of us who can. I have faced this discrimination all my life as I have always been able to articulate myself in a fairly cogent and convincing manner through the written word.

Articulating yourself in the written word is hardly different from articulating yourself in the spoken word

The former is much easier for most people then the latter. Those who are great speakers also tend to be very lucid and cogent writers but those who write well can't always express themselves with clarity whilst speaking. I used to see this disconnect all the time amongst my pre-law and Con-law students as some could write extremely well but were totally incoherent when we engaged in dialectical exercises. As a lawyer, I must do both exquisitely well.
